CHOWCHILLA – The 55th annual Chowchilla Western Stampede is underway. Wednesday morning the clouds parted and the rain stopped while forty of so cowboys drove a hundred head of cattle straight down Robertson Boulevard in Chowchilla.

While the crowds of the past didn’t line the streets because of the rain storm that dropped a ton of water on the county creating rivers at the fairgrounds where the rest of the week’s festivities will be held.

CLOVIS - Early Friday morning, Clovis Police received several calls of shots fired in the 200 block of Eighth Street. Officers arrived in moments to find two apparent homicide victims in two separate houses across the street from each other.

When officers were performing a safety check of the area, a man with a firearm confronted them. That’s when the officer involved shooting took place. The suspect was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he died about 3 hours later. No Clovis Police officers were hurt in the incident.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and Superintendant Michael Hanson release Joint Statement on Arrest of Hoover High School Teacher

FRESNO – Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and Fresno Unified School District Superintendant Michael Hanson announced the arrest of Hoover High School Teacher Megan Denman for having sex with a student.

On Monday, April 9th, Detectives from the Fresno Police Department arrested Hoover High School Teacher Megan Denman, 29 of Fresno for one count of PC 261.5.C (Sex with a minor 3+ years younger than suspect, a felony), and two counts of PC 288a(b)(1) (Oral Copulation with a person under 18, also a felony).

FRESNO – Andrew Kown allowed only one run in 6 1/3 innings, leading the Fresno Grizzlies to a 6-1 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Friday at Chukchansi Park. The win, in wet conditions from the day full of rain, improves the Grizzlies’ record to 7-2, the best start to a season by any Grizzlies team in franchise history.

Kown picked up his second win in the longest outing by a Grizzlies starter so far this season. The 6 1/3 innings bested the previoushigh of six innings last set by Eric Hacker last night.

FRESNO COUNTY - Sheriff Margaret Mims today announced the arrest of a Riverdale man after leading deputies on a pursuit that traveled through southern Fresno and northern Kings Counties.  Arrested was 20 year old James Henry White Jr.

Yesterday, shortly after 11:30am, deputies responded to Fontes Farms near Riverdale regarding the theft of a Ford F-150 truck and fuel trailer.  Workers at the farm reported seeing the truck and trailer being driven away from the farm north on Polk Ave.  The owner of the farm contacted the Sheriff’s Office and then started searching the area for the vehicles.
