Madera -  The celebration Friday night at Memorial Stadium wasn't because of the score at the end of the football game. Sunnyside trampled the Coyotes 48-21 on Lee DaSilva Field. No the celebration was at half time when seniors Jazette Drew and Christian Ramirez were named the 2011 Madera High Homecoming Queen and King. Former Madera Unified Superintendent Larry Risinger, who served as homecoming grand marshal, was honored before the game by MHS Principal Kent Albertson.

Earlier in the day the schools homecoming parade started at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School and moved towards the high school down Yosemite Avenue to L Street then traveled down Olive Avenue to Memorial Stadium. Kids from the MHS feeder schools lined the route. Following the parade the students of Madera High gathered in the stadium for an all school rally which for the first time in 15 years did not include a performance by the senior boys of the varsity football team. In keeping with this new tradition they started Friday, they didn't perform on the football field either later that night.
