FRESNO COUNTY - Sheriff Margaret Mims today announced the arrest of a Riverdale man after leading deputies on a pursuit that traveled through southern Fresno and northern Kings Counties.  Arrested was 20 year old James Henry White Jr.

Yesterday, shortly after 11:30am, deputies responded to Fontes Farms near Riverdale regarding the theft of a Ford F-150 truck and fuel trailer.  Workers at the farm reported seeing the truck and trailer being driven away from the farm north on Polk Ave.  The owner of the farm contacted the Sheriff’s Office and then started searching the area for the vehicles.

The owner eventually located his truck in the middle of a field near Garfield & Mt Whitney.  The owner left to get a trailer to recover the truck.  When he returned to recover his truck, he observed White getting into the driver seat.  As White drove away, the owner followed and gave the Sheriff’s Office updates to his location.

Deputies responded and attempted to stop the truck.  White refused to pull over and a pursuit ensued.  The pursuit reached speeds of over 80 mph.  Deputies stopped pursuing White when he began driving recklessly.

Minutes later, Kings County deputies located White in their county and began pursuing him.  When the pursuit traveled back into Fresno County, Fresno deputies took it over.  White was arrested without incident when the truck started having mechanical problems and he had to pull over near the intersection of Hayes & Harlan.

During the investigation, deputies located the stolen fuel trailer hidden behind a large eucalyptus tree in the 20500 block of S Garfield.  Another stolen tractor was also located at the original location where the truck & trailer had been taken from.

White was later booked into the Fresno County Jail and charged with four counts of vehicle theft, four counts of possession of stolen property, and felony evading.
