FRESNO COUNTY - Sheriff Margaret Mims today announced the arrest of a Caruthers man wanted in connection with the burglary of Caruthers Elementary School.  Arrested was 32 year old Jeff Lee Swetnam.

Early yesterday morning, shortly after midnight, deputies were dispatched to the school located at 13699 S Quince Ave after the alarm company reported a silent alarm and possible break in to one of the class rooms.

When deputies arrived on scene, a perimeter was set up around the school while Eagle One assisted from above.

A short time later, Eagle One deputies spotted Swetnam attempting to flee the area.  They directed ground deputies to his location and he was immediately detained.

During the investigation, it was determined that a burglary had occurred with the property loss being a laptop computer.  Deputies also discovered that Swetnam was on active parole and had a felony parole warrant for his arrest.

Swetnam was later transported to the Fresno County Jail where he was booked on charges of commercial burglary and the felony warrant.
