BULLDOG STADIUM - He'll return for his senior year and the Fresno State Bulldogs clinched the Mountain West championship, the school's first conference title since 1999. After his team beat the Air Force Falcons 48-15, Derek Carr announced that he will be returning to Fresno State for his senior year and not entering the NFL draft.

In the first three quarters of play the Bulldogs were up over the Falcons 45-7.  Carr was 28 for 32 in passing with 452 yards. Even Robbie Rouse got a chance in the quarterback seat and nailed a one yard pass to Marcel Jensen in the first quarter. "This is the best season since I've been here, and the best season in at least over a decade and to go undefeated at home is real big.", Rouse said.

In his final game as a player, former Clovis West stand out Travis Brown led the defense with 12 tackles including 10 solo stops.  Travis has this to say on being a local boy after the game, "It's huge. The fan support I've had by staying in town and being a local guy. The community that surrounds Fresno has always held a place that has been close to my heart. In just the community they have always showed me love since Clovis West and Kastner (junior high) days even. I love the fans and I love the community. I was raised here and I can't say enough about the fans and community."

DeRuyter and his Bulldogs closed out the regular season with five-straight wins and stand at 9-3 overall while going 7-1 in their first season of Mountain West play. Fresno State now awaits its fate on where it will be heading for the bowl game and it has the opportunity to capture programs first 10-win season since 2001.

"I'm very, very proud of 22 exceptional seniors and the staff that came together a year ago to work as one unit and a team," DeRuyter said. "I'm very proud of what we were able to accomplish this season and especially today against a good Air Force team. We just tried to win a Mountain West championship, especially for these seniors."

Derek Carr was named the National Player of the Week on Sunday by two different outlets. The Walter Camp Football Foundation named Carr its National Offensive Player of the Week. Then the College Football Performance Awards honored Carr as its National Performer of the Week and National Quarterback of the Week.

Carr set a Fresno State single-game record for highest completion percentage by connecting on 28-of-32 passes for 87.5 percent. He threw for 452 yards and four touchdowns to lead Fresno State past the Falcons in the win.

It was Carr's third game this season throwing for over 400 yards with at least four touchdowns and he is one of three quarterbacks in the nation that has done so. His three 400-yard passing games this year has also set a new Mountain West single-season record. Carr said following the game, "I prepare myself for every game like it is the Super Bowl. I am not going to let anyone un-prepare me and if I do I am not doing my job and I am doing a disservice to my teammates."
