FRESNO - After winning the 2016 Mountain West championship, the Fresno State men's basketball team earned a No. 14 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament will face No. 3 seed Utah in its first round game on Thursday at 4:27 p.m. PT in Denver, Colo.

By earning the MW's automatic bid to the Big Dance after defeating regular season champion San Diego State 68-63 on Saturday, the Bulldogs are heading back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001.

"This time of the year, you never take for granted being in postseason play and with a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament," Fresno State head coach Rodney Terry said. "Like I tell my guys all the time, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and something they'll never forget. They just need to be excited in the moment and we will be. We have a great opponent that we're playing, No. 2 seed in the Pac-12, which was a really good conference this year. Larry has done a great job with the program there at Utah and we're excited about the challenge."

Fresno State (25-9) and Utah (26-8) will meet in the Round of 64 on Thursday with the winner advancing to play Thursday's winner in another first round game between No. 6 seed Seton Hall and No. 11 seed Gonzaga on Saturday in Denver. All of these first and second round games will be played at the Pepsi Center with the Mountain West serving as the first and second round host organization.

Tickets for the NCAA Tournament will go on sale through the Bulldog Scholarship Fund on Monday at 9 a.m. PT by calling 559-278-7160.
