Suspect Arrested For Negligent Discharge of a Firearm Print E-mail

FRESNO - On August 29th, 2016 at 8:48 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Weber and Floradora for an anonymous report of someone firing off a gun in the neighborhood. Officers made contact with the residents of a home in the 1300 block of North Esther.

Detectives from the Fresno Police Department Gun Crimes Unit responded and a search warrant was utilized to search the residence which revealed five different firearms, one which was used to fire off several rounds in the backyard of this residence. Fortunately there were no injuries.

Officers also located evidence of narcotics usage and a small marijuana grow in this residence. George Escamilla 38 years old of Fresno, a suspect bulldog gang member, was taken into custody at the residence and later booked in the Fresno County Jail for Negligent Discharge of a firearm, being a prior felon in possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

He was also charged with possession of illegal narcotics / marijuana and child neglect as children live in the residence and loaded firearms and a crossbow were located accessible in the residence.

Fresno Police would like to remind the public of the “Felon with a Gun” program that offers a $500 dollar reward for information that leads to firearm related arrests.
