FRESNO - Detectives assigned to the Central California Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Gregory Carr, 46, of Fresno Wednesday. He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a felony charge of possession of child pornography. His bail has been set at $20,000.

A joint investigation launched by members of ICAC, including the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, Fresno Police and Homeland Security Investigations led detectives to obtain a search warrant for Carr’s home located on the 1600 block of W. Ellery Way in Fresno.

On August 11, 2016, they collected personal electronic devices from the house. Detectives conducted a forensic examination of the equipment, some of which contained images of child pornography. No evidence has been discovered which shows Carr was actively abusing children. However, this is an ongoing investigation and the Sheriff’s Office encourages the public to contact us if they have concerns about other potential illegal activity.

At the start of this investigation, Carr was employed as a teacher at Caruthers Elementary School. He also volunteered at a Fresno church. Caruthers Unified School District worked in partnership with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office as soon as this investigation was opened. Detectives kept the school district and church informed so that they could take necessary actions on the part of their organizations.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency for ICAC. It is comprised of 60 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies spread throughout nine counties in the Central Valley. It is dedicated to protecting children online and investigating crimes committed against children, which are facilitated by the Internet and computer usage.

Anyone with information on this case or any other child pornography investigation is asked to please contact the Sgt. Jeff Kertson at (559) 600-8144 or call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
