Denise Bondurant is one of few professional golfers to belong to both the PGA and LPGA.

FRESNO – The First Tee of Fresno has named former professional golfer Denise Bondurant the new Program Director, the organization announced Friday. Bondurant will manage and direct programming at the five year old organization’s headquarters and all five of its affiliate locations.

 The First Tee of Fresno uses golf to teach children ages 7-17 a Life Skills Experience™ that is rooted in their nine core values; honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment.

GOBULLDOGS.COM - After 27 years as the Fresno State softball head coach, Margie Wright has announced her retirement effective June 30, 2012. Wright, who is the NCAA Division I all-time winningest softball coach and is ranked second all-time in NCAA Division I history for victories regardless of sport, steps down after guiding the university to its first NCAA Division I team title (1998) and directing the softball program to unparalleled heights.

Under her direction the Bulldogs have appeared in every NCAA Tournament championship, while becoming the second all-time winningest softball program in Division I history.

FRESNO – Andrew Kown allowed only one run in 6 1/3 innings, leading the Fresno Grizzlies to a 6-1 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Friday at Chukchansi Park. The win, in wet conditions from the day full of rain, improves the Grizzlies’ record to 7-2, the best start to a season by any Grizzlies team in franchise history.

Kown picked up his second win in the longest outing by a Grizzlies starter so far this season. The 6 1/3 innings bested the previoushigh of six innings last set by Eric Hacker last night.

MADERA — In the LunkerDaddy Late Models race, it was Jason Aguirre, of Atwater, that took the lead past Rusty Roberston, of Fresno, on the 14th lap and never looked back as he won the 40-lap main in the Smokey Hanoian Classic on the newly revamped track at the Madera Speedway on April 7, 2012.

With 10 laps remaining, Aguirre’s comfortable lead started to dwindle as he got a late push from Ray Mayer, of Mariposa, before crossing the finish line to win in the five-car race. Mayer finished second while Robertson took third.

New Coach Volunteered to Help Chldren's Hospital

GoBulldogs.com - Fresno State head football coach Tim DeRuyter was out Tuesday on the corner of Shaw and Blackstone selling papers for Children's Hospital 25th Annual Kids Day.

DeRuyter was one of thousands of volunteers throughout the city selling the special Kids Day edition of the Fresno Bee to help raise money for Children's Hospital Central California.
