Director of Athletics Thomas Boeh Transitioning to New Role at Fresno State Print E-mail

FRESNO – Thomas Boeh, who has served as Fresno State’s Director of Athletics since July 2005, and astutely guided the department to stability, reform and revitalization, will leave his position to accept a new role with the University, President Joseph I. Castro announced.


Effective Aug. 15, Boeh will assume the position of special assistant to the president. In his new role, Boeh will serve as primary adviser to President Castro on the unprecedented changes occurring within the NCAA and Mountain West Conference due to recent labor actions and legislation.

FRESNO - A one-of-a-kind bobblehead of record-setting Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr to celebrate the Bulldogs' 2013 Mountain West Football Championship will be available to the Red Wave for $20 starting July 31 at The Bulldog Shop - located at the northwest corner of Barstow and Cedar Avenues.

As part of the @DCBobblehead celebration, The Bulldog Shop will open early on July 31 at 6 a.m. and stay open late until 9 p.m. Fans are encouraged to line-up leading up to the store's early opening on July 31 only. For all other days in August, The Bulldog Shop will be open during its regular business hours.

FRESNO - Derek Carr, Fresno State's all-time leading passer, was selected with the fourth pick in the second round, No. 36 overall, by the Oakland Raiders on Friday in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Carr is the eighth Bulldog quarterback to hear his name called in the NFL Draft and the first since Tom Brandstater went in the sixth round (No. 174 overall) to the Denver Broncos in 2009. He is also the 101st player overall in school history to be drafted.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Fresno State women's basketball team continued its March dominance, winning its fourth-straight conference tournament championship game to secure the programs seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

Additionally, the Bulldogs (22-10) won their sixth conference tournament championship in seven years with Saturday's 77-68 victory over No. 1 seed Colorado State in the title game of the 2014 Reese's Mountain West Championship at the Thomas & Mack Center.
