MALAGA - An armed robbery suspect turned himself in to Sheriff’s detectives earlier today after family members saw him on the surveillance video released yesterday to local media outlets.

Shortly before 10:00am, 23 year old Angel Lucio Hernandez turned himself into detectives at the Sheriff’s Office’s E. Shields Ave substation.  He was accompanied by family members who had seen the surveillance video on the news and identified him as the suspect.

CHOWCHILLA - At Wednesday’s Chowchilla City Council Meeting, Council voted 4-1 in favor of awarding a bid to the San Joaquin Valley Paleontology Foundation for the remnant of the historic highway landmark known as Mammoth Orange. The San Joaquin Valley Paleontology organization is the foundation for the Fossil Discovery Center of Madera County.

The SJV Paleontology Foundation is making plans to remove the old Mammoth Orange shell from the City yard and move it to its new location at the Fossil Discovery Center located at 19450 Avenue 21 ½ in Chowchilla. Their intent is to restore the Mammoth Orange to be utilized as an on-site concession stand. They plan on operating it as a full hamburger stand as it once was in its glory days while located along Highway 99.

Fresno County - Sheriff Margaret Mims today announced the arrest of two Fresno men, one a street gang member, after a vehicle pursuit in and around north Fresno.  Arrested were 24 year old Craig Blain Smith and 24 year old Alex Ortiz.

The incident started when a Sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a purple, 1995 Honda Civic in the area of Herndon & Fwy 99.  When the deputy activated his emergency lights to affect the stop, Smith failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.

SELMA - Earlier Saturday morning, shortly after 6:00am, the Selma Police Department received a 911 call from a male subject who stated he had just killed four people and was about to kill himself.  The line then disconnected. According to the 911 system, the call originated from 2819 Pine St in the City of Selma, the home of 47 year old Avtar Singh and his family.

Selma PD was aware of Singh as he was apparently wanted by India authorities for an alleged murder in that country, and had military background. Selma PD immediately requested assistance from the the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office. Several officers and deputies responded to the address and attempted to make contact with someone in the residence, however there was no answer.

FRESNO COUNTY - Sheriff Margaret Mims is asking for the public’s help in locating two Fresno men wanted in the kidnap and sexual assault of one of the men’s estranged wife.  Wanted are 25 year old Jerry Vue, and 20 year old Kou Vue.

This past Monday afternoon (June 4), shortly after 5:00pm, deputies responded to the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Center regarding a domestic violence call.The 25 year old victim reported that earlier that morning, she had met Jerry Vue, her ex-husband at a parking lot near Divisadero & Fwy 41.  Vue was accompanied by his younger brother Kou Vue.
