Chowchilla – It has been 136 days since the passing of Little League District 10 Administrator Bob Berry. In that time the powers that be at Western Regional Little League have devised a plan to break up the district Mr. Berry worked so hard to keep together.

In a small meeting room in Chowchilla, presidents from all of the community Little Leagues from Sanger to Turlock met to learn the fate of their district. What they learned from acting District Administrator John Gray was that one of the largest districts in the state would be split into two separate districts this season.

Boone coached the Fresno State football team from 1973-75 - JR Boone, Fresno State's head football coach from 1973-75, passed away in his sleep on Sunday at his home in Selma. He was 86.

Boone, a native of Clinton, Okla., enjoyed a successful athletic and coaching career. The former NFL player was inducted into the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame in 1972 and is also a member of the University of Tulsa Hall of Fame, the Reedley College Hall of Fame, the California Junior College Hall of Fame and the YMCA Hall of Fame.

DeRuyter announces first seven hires to his coaching staff - New Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter announced Wednesday that he has officially filled seven positions on his football staff with assistants that have combined to coach for nearly 90 years and in 21 bowl games while one of his hires is a local high school head coach that played 13 seasons in the NFL.

Coaches share philosophies, talk about the history of the Bulldog football program - New Fresno State head football coach Tim DeRuyter paid former Bulldog head coach Jim Sweeney a visit when he was in town for his introductory press conference last week.

DeRuyter, who spoke at his press conference about the importance of honoring and recognizing the history and traditions of the program, went to the home of coach Sweeney to meet him and his wife, June.

DeRuyter Becomes the 17th Head Coach to Lead the Fresno State Football Program - Fresno State Director of Athletics Thomas Boeh has announced the appointment of Tim DeRuyter, Interim Head Coach at Texas A&M, as the 17th head coach of the Bulldog football program.

DeRuyter (pronounced da-ROOT-er) will begin recruiting for Fresno State immediately before the NCAA-mandated "quiet period," which begins Dec. 19. He will begin his full-time coaching with the Bulldogs immediately following the Aggies' game versus Northwestern at the Meineke Car Care Bowl on Dec. 31. He has spent the past two seasons as an assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at Texas A&M.
