MADERA -  A pregnant woman is sitting in the Madera County Department of Corrections awaiting trial for multiple drunken driving charges for a crash in Central California that left a man dead and three others injured.

The California Highway Patrol says Candice Ooley (23) was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter after the crash Friday night on Highway 41 in Madera County foothills.

FRESNO - Mid-morning Wednesday, shortly before 10:00AM, the Fresno Police Department received reports of shots being fired in the area of Chestnut Avenue and Holland Ave in Northeast Fresno.  The caller reported seeing three males entering an older model, burgundy Toyota Corolla and dronueve southbound Chestnut Ave.  

Members of the SVS Tac Team located the Corolla near HWY 168 and Ashland Avenue. The Fresno Police Department helicopter, Air 1, arrived quickly and worked with the SVS Tac Team to follow the suspect vehicle as it travelled on the freeway towards downtown Fresno.

Stolen Vehicle Stop Nets Two to Jail Print E-mail

FRESNO - Detectives from the Fresno Police Department’s Career Criminal Auto Theft Team (CCATT) assisted FPD traffic officers Yuesday afternoon with a stop of an occupied stolen vehicle at Pacific and Belmont.

Traffic officers stopped a gray, 1991, Toyota, Camry for not having a front license plate. During the stop, it was learned that the Toyota was a reported stolen vehicle out of NW Fresno. The driver and passenger were detained and CCATT detectives took over the investigation.

Police Respond to Reported Chat-line Kidnapping Print E-mail

FRESNO - Southeast patrol officers from the Fresno Police Deaprtment responded Monday morning to the Chevron station at Shields and Armstrong avenues regarding a reported kidnapping. When officers arrived at the station, they contacted the 14-year-old female victim. She told officers she was waiting for a bus in the Tower District when she was approached by the suspect and was forced into the suspect vehicle and placed in the trunk.

The victim then told officers she was driven to an unknown apartment by Fresno State where she was slapped and forced into a closet. Later, the victim said the suspect drove her to the area of Armstrong and Floradora Avenue where the suspect vehicle ran out of gas. The victim claimed she then ran from the vehicle to the Chevron station where she called the police.

Deceased Woman Found in Canal at Chestnut /Jensen Print E-mail

FRESNO - On Thursday, May 19th, at 7:08 am, Southeast patrol officers from the Fresno Police Department were dispatched to Jensen /Chestnut avenues to investigate the report of a body found in an irrigation canal. Fresno County Sheriff deputies were already arrived on scene.

An irrigation worker was using a trash fork tool to remove debris from the canal and he discovered a body near the debris and under the water. The worker immediately notified law enforcement. The decedent was an 84 year old Asian female and was removed from the water by the Fresno County Sheriffs Department Boat and Dive Team.

Inmate Shooting at Sacramento Men's Prison Investigated Print E-mail

SACRAMENTO – Monday morning at 10:25 a.m., at least four inmates were involved in an incident at California State Prison-Sacramento. All four suffered injuries. One inmate suffered a gunshot wound from a correctional officer’s use of deadly force and a second suffered multiple stab wounds.

Three inmates attacked a fourth inmate with stabbing weapons they had manufactured. When the three attackers ignored verbal orders, correctional officers used one blast dispersion grenade and discharged one round from a Mini-14 rifle to stop the attack.

Police Capture Road Rage Suspect who Shot at a Car Print E-mail

FRESNO - Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives booked John Sayer, 70, of Livermore into the Fresno County Jail on felonies of assault with a firearm and shooting at an occupied vehicle. He has since posted bond and bailed out of jail.

Around 9:00 am on Sunday, a 40 year old man was driving northbound on Interstate 5 near the Hwy. 198 intersection. The driver looked in his rear view mirror and saw a Toyota Camry, driven by John Sayer, weaving in and out of traffic. Sayer eventually got behind the victim and began to tailgate him.
