Deputies Recover Stolen Eagle Statue Print E-mail

FRESNO - Fresno County Sheriff’s property crimes detectives are making plans to return a cement American Bald Eagle statue to its owners. On the night of April 9th, deputies received a call from the Fresno Police Department saying a man contacted them wanting to return the stolen statue.

Deputies responded to a home near McKinley and Cedar in Fresno. They spoke with the man and found the statue in the bed of his pickup truck. He claims a friend of his recently bought it off two men for $50, but the details of his story were very vague. The man says the next day he found out the statue was a stolen item, so he called Fresno Police to arrange having it returned to its rightful owners.

Visalia Chase Suspect Found in Fresno Print E-mail

FRESNO - Northeast patrol officers from the Fresno Police Department were dispatched Tuesday morning on a call to locate wanted suspect Guy Stowers (26) who was possibly at the Serena Bay Apartments at 2029 Pontiac Way. Stowers left this location before officers arrived but was later located at an apartment complex near California State University Fresno.

Earlier that morning In the City of Visalia, Stowers committed the following crimes: violation of a domestic violence restraining order, felony stalking, and committing a felony while out on bail. After Stowers committed these crimes, a Visalia Police sergeant spotted his vehicle, a Nissan Altima, and tried to stop the vehicle but Stowers refused to pull over and a pursuit ensued which eventually ended when it was terminated for public safety. Thus, Stowers was also wanted for felony evading a peace officer.

Suspect Trades in Old Jail Jumpsuit for a New One Print E-mail

FRESNO - Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have booked Isaac McCoy, 30, of Fresno into the Fresno County Jail. He faces misdemeanor charges of possessing stolen property, possessing drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant for a misdemeanor crime.

Around 5:00 pm on Monday, deputies responded to the area of N. Palm and San Ramon Ave. in Fresno to check the welfare of a man. A witness reported that he appeared to be disoriented and was walking into the roadway. Deputies arrived and found the man, Isaac McCoy, standing on a median along a frontage road and looking into a parked car.

Sink-Hole Opens on Schnoor Halting Traffic For Days Print E-mail

MADERA - A little after noon Monday, a sink hole opened up on Schnoor Avenue just north of West Fourth Street near Howard Road. At first Madera Police observed a two foot hole that grew into a 20 foot by 20 foot hole within minutes. Once Madera maintenance workers were able to get a good look at the damage they could see the dirt underneath the road surface had eroded over fifty feet to the south of the initial damage.

The main sewer trunk that stretches from Cleveland Avenue to the Madera sewer facility had ruptured at the spot of the damage. It is not known at this time how long the soil has been eroding from beneath the road but officials think the main damage may have come from this last weekend's heavy rains.

Naked Kingsburg Man Arrested After Fighting with Deputies Print E-mail

KINGSBURG - Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested and booked Robert Lopez, 37, of Kingsburg into the Fresno County Jail. He faces felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, resisting arrest and a misdemeanor for indecent exposure.

Around 7:00 pm on Wednesday, a deputy was dispatched to the 400 block of 6th Street Drive in Kingsburg regarding a man, Robert Lopez, who was watering his lawn while naked. Lopez is known to be hostile toward law enforcement, so a Kingsburg Police officer was requested to assist on the call. The deputy and officer found Lopez in his yard drinking beer.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Fresno State Print E-mail

FRESNO - Early Wednesday morning Northeast patrol and traffic officers from the Fresno Police Department were dispatched to Fresno State farm property located north of Bullard Avenue, between Cedar and Willow Avenues, regarding a motorcycle accident. University PD officers were also dispatched on the call.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased motorcyclist on a dirt access road in the middle of the farm property. There was a motocross-type motorcycle laying on its side next to the deceased male. Joggers on the property came upon the accident scene at 6am and they notified the police. The Fresno Police Department Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to conduct the accident investigation.

Friant Burglar Arrested For Tyson Boxing Belt Theft Print E-mail

FRIANT - Fresno County Sheriff’s property crimes detectives have arrested Ramee Ayesh, 29, of Salinas, CA. He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on four felony counts of burglary and two felony counts of possessing stolen property. He has since posted bond and bailed out of jail.

On March 16th, the Sheriff’s Office received reports of burglaries from three different locations in the town of Friant. One was at the Millerton Country Store located at 20023 Auberry Road, another was at a home in the Brighton Crest development and the other was at a home in the Mira Bella development. Both Brighton Crest and Mira Bella are gated communities.
