Fresno State Football: 2015 Seniors Take on NFL Pro Day Print E-mail

FRESNO - Thirteen former Fresno State football players showcased their abilities in front of 10 scouts for NFL pro day at Bulldog Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Each athlete tried their hand at the 40-yard dash, 3-cone drill, vertical jump, broad jump, 60-yard shuttle and bench press, as well as individual workouts per request of respective NFL scouts.

 

The group of Bulldogs who took the field at the 2016 pro day were: Bo Bonnheim, Dylan Detwiler, Ejiro Ederaine, Shannon Edwards, Alex Fifita, Claudell Louis, Justin Northern, Kyrian Obidiegwu, Jaamal Rose, Garrett Swanson, Marteze Waller, Charles Washington and Kyrie Wilson.

Bulldogs to Face Utah in NCAA First Round Thursday Print E-mail

FRESNO - After winning the 2016 Mountain West championship, the Fresno State men's basketball team earned a No. 14 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament will face No. 3 seed Utah in its first round game on Thursday at 4:27 p.m. PT in Denver, Colo.

By earning the MW's automatic bid to the Big Dance after defeating regular season champion San Diego State 68-63 on Saturday, the Bulldogs are heading back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2001.

Domestic Dispute Leads to Arrest Near Raymond Print E-mail

MADERA COUNTY - At about 9:30 Friday night, Madera County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 38000 block of Road 415 in regards to a domestic disturbance. Deputies were told the caller’s estranged husband was at her house yelling at her and trying to break down the front door with a hatchet. He also struck her vehicle several times with his hatchet.

As Deputies were responding, the caller reported that she had heard a gunshot and thought her husband had a shotgun. While Deputies were still on their way to the residence, the caller reported she had heard more gunshots. The caller told Deputies she thought her estranged husband was suicidal and may shoot himself.

FRESNO - The Fresno Police Department received a call regarding a bulldog gang member running up and down the stairs yelling “bulldogs”, and “come outside” Monday. The apartment was located in the 200 block of North U Street.

When officers arrived they made contact with an individual who flagged them down in the parking lot. During their investigation they determined the individual’s neighbor had shot a hole through his wall and into his TV which was located against the other wall.

Poythress Files for Madera County 3rd Supervisorial District Print E-mail

MADERA—Earlier today Mayor Robert L. Poythress, a local banker, farmer and business owner, filed official paperwork with the Madera County Election’s Office to run in the consolidated June 7th Presidential Primary for Madera County Supervisor in District 3.

Mayor Poythress was joined by his wife, Carol, family, friends, and colleagues at the Madera County Elections Office this morning is a great show of support him. Poythress said “I am humbled by the support I’ve received by constituents, colleagues, friends and my family. I plan to run and work hard to earn the support of voters.”

Animal Control Helps Bust Squatting Criminals Print E-mail

CHOWCHILLA - An animal control officer with the Chowchilla Police Department was on pro-active patrol Tuesday morning around the schools in the 1100 block Riverside Avenue when she saw a female who appeared to possibly be breaking into a residence.

Animal control contacted police officers who responded to the residence. Police spoke with the female who was the caretaker of the property. The female was unable to get into the residence which was supposed to be vacant.

Madera County Celebrates $15 Million in Savings through Completion of Solar and Energy Efficiency Project Print E-mail

MADERA - The Madera County Board of Supervisors announced at its March 1st Board meeting that it has completed the latest chapter in its successful solar and energy efficiency program with OpTerra Energy Services.

The development of the program began in 2013 and delivery of energy improvements across three major County sites has been aligned with the County's broader objective to maintain fiscal stewardship while improving community facilities. Madera County is set to save nearly $15 million in energy savings as a result of the comprehensive solar and energy efficiency upgrades.
