MADERA – Madera County District Attorney Michael Keitz announced that Marco Alanis, age 27, of Madera, was sentenced last week on 3 felony counts.

Alanis was convicted in Madera Superior Court in March, on charges including first degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, and criminal threats with a special enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon.

In May, 2010, Alanis broke into the home of his former girlfriend and mother of his child, after she denied him entry. Once inside her home, he violently attacked and terrorized her. He threatened to kill the victim while holding a knife to her throat and telling her that “she did not deserve to live”. The victim eventually managed to escape the attack by fleeing from her home.

Alanis, whose felony convictions result in “strikes” under California’s Three Strikes Law, was sentenced to a term of 7 years in state prison, by Judge Joseph Soldani.
