FRESNO - Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested 38-year-old Cha Yang of Fresno.  He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail.  Yang faces eight felony counts, which include rape and other charges related to child molestation.

On May 5th, 2015, a staff member of a school located within the Fresno Unified School District notified the Sheriff’s Office of a girl in her early teens who was possibly the victim of sex abuse.  An investigation was initiated.

Detectives interviewed the girl and developed information that a crime had occurred.  They went to a home to contact the suspect, Cha Yang, but he was not there.  Early Wednesday morning, Yang turned himself in at the Fresno County Jail.  Detectives interviewed Yang and later placed him under arrest.  The investigation shows Yang had been committing sex offenses against the victim for the past eight months.

The case has been submitted to the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages parents and family members to educate their children.  Speak to kids about good touching and bad touching.  If you know someone who is the victim of a sex offense, report it immediately; you can remain anonymous.

Anyone with additional information on Cha Yang is asked to please contact Det. Jesse Gloria at (559) 600-8217 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-STOP (7867).
