FRESNO - On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 9:08 am, officers were dispatched to a call of a victim chasing his stolen Ford F450 truck that a suspect just stole from the street in the area of Wishon and Princeton Avenues in the city of Fresno.

The call indicated the victim was updating police dispatch as he was chasing the stolen truck in another vehicle. The suspect was trying to evade the victim in the neighborhood located in the northeast section of Maroa and Shields Avenues.

Prior to officers arriving in the area, the suspect pulled over at fountain Way and Delmar Avenue and ran from the stolen Ford truck. The suspect ran northbound on Foyne from Fountain Way and he was chased by one of the victims who lost sight of the suspect.

Many marked patrol cars and undercover detectives arrived in the neighborhood to search for the outstanding auto theft suspect. An undercover detective was driving northbound on Glenn Avenue, approaching  Fountain Way Avenue, when he saw the suspect, Ronald Autry, 38 years old, loitering on the porch of 1501 E. Glenn Ave. The detectives noticed that Autry matched the physical description provided of the outstanding auto theft suspect. When the detectives contacted him he did not have a valid reason for being on the porch of the residence. He was detained and positively identified by the victims as the suspect that stole the Ford F450 truck. Autry, on parole for burglary, was arrested for auto theft and for parole violation. Autry said he was released from prison in May 2016 where he was doing time for burglary.

The victims told officers they work for a concrete design company and were checking out a job site in the neighborhood of Wishon and Princeton Avenues. They said they were away from the truck that still had the keys in the ignition. Autry  was walking by and saw the keys in the ignition and stole the truck. The victims had a car nearby and started to chase the truck once Autry drove off with it.

Autry has a significant theft, burglary, and auto theft arrest history. He will be booked at Fresno county jail for auto theft and parole violation. The stolen work truck was returned to the victims.
