River Park Faces Madera Teams in Winners Bracket of Little League All Stars Print

 MADERA  - The District 10 All Star Tournament of Little League is in full swing at various parks around the valley. Saturday the 9/10 year-olds and the 11/12 teams battled it out in Reedley at Camacho Park only to then meet up at Town n Country Park in Madera on Sunday to do it all over again.

In the 10/11 year-old tournament River Park Little League blew past their first two opponents on Thursday night in Reedley and again on Friday night at their own home field in Fresno.

In Reedley Thursday RJ Bernal pitched a solid three innings allowing no runs to score on no hits for River Park. Garrett Fuller went two for three at the plate jacking a rocket over the right field fence in the second inning and singeing in the fifth..

Friday night the River Park 10/11 year-old all stars shut the door early on Madera American grabbing the victory 13-2. River Park scored 11 of their runs in the first three innings.

A three-run triple by Brady Crow in the first inning and an RBI single by Brock Jones, a walk by Trevor Fontain, a passed ball, and a groundout by Wayne Rutledge during the second inning supplied the early offense. Jones racked up two RBIs on two hits for River Park.

Mikell Chavez brought the heat against Madera American during his outing. Chavez gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work. Four relief pitchers finished off the game. Garrett Fuller faced three batters in relief, while Jones managed to record four outs to aid the victory.

River Park's 9/10 and 11/12 year-old teams both won their first two games over the weekend.  The 10's beat Selma 16-10 in a tough first game on Saturday in Reedley and 16-2 against Sanger in the second game Sunday morning in Madera.

The River Park 12's beat Selma 24-3 in a four inning batting practice for their first game and Sanger 15-5 in their second game.

Eliminated from the tournament Sunday were the 9/10 year-old team from Madera National in a 10-5 heart breaker to Selma Little League. On the 11/12 year-old side of the park the Madera Nationals eliminated Selma 14-4. Both teams from Chowchilla Little League were also elliminated Sunday.

Monday night the River Park 10/11 year-old team faces Madera National in Madera at Town n Country Park at 7pm. The Madera American Little League teams for 9/10 and 11/12 year-olds will both face River Park Little League at 7pm Tuesday evening. The 12's will play at River Park, while the 10's will play in Madera at Town n Country. Sanger and Reedley will also split two games between themselves in the losers bracket.
