Bulldogs Fall to Ole Miss 38-28 Print

Fresno State – The Fresno State Bulldogs hosted the Rebels from the University of Mississippi Saturday night. This was the first time a team from the South Eastern Conference, considered by many to be the best football conference in the country, played in Bulldog Stadium.

From the onset it was a see-saw game with eight lead changes on the evening in front of an announced attendance of 32,000. For most of the evening there was a one point margin in the score, then Dogs didn’t show up for the fourth quarter and Ole Miss racked up 11 unanswered points for a 38-28 final score.


Derek Carr went 281 yards with 25 for 38 completions in the air with one interception and two sacks. The Dogs had a total of 444 yards with 163 from rushing. Ole Miss went 430 total yards with 216 yards rushing and first time quarterback Randall Mackey throwing for 214 yards with 8 for 18 competitions.

Earlier in the week Fresno State linebacker Travis Brown was named the Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week and senior kicker Kevin Goessling was named WAC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Next up for the Dogs is former WAC rival the Boise State who comes off a win against Nevada. The number four Broncos lead in the series with Fresno State 9-4 including a 51-0 victory against the Dogs last year. Kick off is at 6pm Friday evening.
