MADERA - The gates have closed on the 2012 edition of the Madera District Fair and what a great time was had by all. The concert line up this year was awesome from Thursday night's "Tower of Power" to Saturday night's Rodney Atkins. Did I mention the legendary classic rock band "Styx"?

Friday morning the kids from Madera Unified came over for a morning of fun and education. According to MUSD Chief Academic Officer Robert Chavez, he was told by teachers that attended that this years kids day was well organized and they were very impressed. Kids visited the animals, gardens, plants and lumber jack demonstration. Let's not forget the lumber town they got to walk through and learn about Madera's history.

Saturday the kids from FFA and 4H sold their animals at the junior livestock sale. Last year the auction set a record with the amount of money raised for the kids. This year officials, who haven't finished their count yet, feel they will surpass last years numbers.

The carnival was filled with people having fun with the rides. This year Madera rated three ferris-wheels, three slides and a real roller coaster. The Midway of Fun brought their best rides to Madera and fair visitors enjoyed themselves.

Next years Madera District Fair will take place on September 5th through 8th, 2013. But if you can't wait until then, the Big Fresno Fair opens it's gates on October 3rd through 14th.
