Madera - The Madera Fairgrounds was the site of the 2003 Great Madera Chili Cook-off sponsored by Clear Channel Radio.  Thousands enjoyed the chili, the cars and the hot bodies of the Miss. Chili Pepper & Mr. Puniverse Contests. For the second year in a row Area 51 took first place for their chili.

While the crowds weren't as large as last years event, once the Mr. & Miss. Chili Pepper contest started people from all over the fair grounds moved to the amphitheater near Woman's World.

Miss Chili Pepper was won by Fresno model Tonya Lynn. Lynn walked away with the 2003 title and for $500 in cash.

During the arm wrestling event, one contestant snapped his forearm in half and was rushed to Madera Community Hospital for treatment.
