Hare Stock Palooza Fest

Rock & Roll and JackAss Wow and Disgust All

Old Timers Day - Madera Fair - Sports - Chowchilla Fair - Spring Festival

Madera - The neighborhoods around the Madera Fair Grounds got a double shot of noise Saturday night with the weekly speedway races and the First "Annual" Hare Stock Palooza Festival. The concert, sponsored by Fresno radio station KRZR, is one of three annual shows put on by the Clear Channel radio station at the fair grounds. The other two are the Man Fest and Salsa Fest.

The concert drew a near sell out crowd of heavy metal fans, all paying the $25 ticket price and $3 parking. For their money they were entertained by seven bands like Papa Roach, Motograter, Crossfade, Grade 8 and Aphasia. Local favorites Nodedive and Six Ounce Gloves also rocked on the two stages setup in the grass area of the fairgrounds property.

Jackass cast member Steve-O was on hand with his "Don't Try This At Home Tour". Jackass was one of MTV's highest rated shows for three seasons. Now, the Jackass crew are no longer on the air because of MTV's restrictions and because of the problem the cable network faced with the a Boston family (where the kid saw a skit and then lit his feet on fire).

Steve O's act can best be described as a Circus Freak on dope. Steve O, who's real name is Stephen Gilchrist Glover, is very open about his use of marijuana and alcohol prior to his shows.  The 1997 graduate of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College boosts that just this year he has smoked dope in twelve different countries.

Of clown college he says the program was more like boot camp than college. Out of 2000 applicants the school receives, only 33 were accepted and Steve-O was one of them. However, after graduation only 10 were selected for the touring circus and this didn't include him. So he went back home to Albuquerque, New Mexico to film himself doing dangerous and stupid stunts for submission to skateboarding companies.

In 1999 he moved to Florida and went to work as a performer on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and was then offered a job at the Hannaford Family Circus as a clown. During this time he was featured in several issues of the skate boarding magazine Big Brother and even filmed a part for the Big Brother video "Boob". This is when he became involved with Jackass. He says he did all his filming for the first season of Jackass within three days.

On the Madera stage to prove that he is sharp and that the glass of a light bulb is too, he smashed a clear 40 watt bulb to his head and cutting up his tongue (he explains the tongue is the fastest healing body part) with the broken glass. He also showed he could throw up on demand, smashed beer cans to his forehead, snort salt and wasabi (Japanese horseradish) and drank his own urine. Now I bet your sorry you miss this one! His numerous videos are available at Blockbuster and Hollywood Video, so you can see his talent from the safety of your living room couch.

For his finale Steve O lit his hair on fire as his brother blew fuel past the burning head to cause a large fire ball. We have photos of Steve O's act below, but I will warn you that some of them are quite disgusting. The only reason we have decided to run them is it is the man's show and it is what he is famous for. Just don't say you haven't been warned.

According to the Madera County Sheriff's Department there were no problems with the crowd, other than your usual drunks and folks drinking in the parking lot before the show. It is not known if the show will take place in Madera next year, but the powers that be at Clear Channel said they are very happy with the facilities in Madera. The show attracted around 4000 people to Madera.
